Synopsis: The Black Rock turns out to be a beached slave ship. It contains old, unstable dynamite that the survivors decide to risk transporting to the hatch in order to blast it open. One of the survivors dies in the process, but they still decide that the hatch must be opened. Meanwhile, on the raft, a light appears in the darkness of night. The men think they are going to be saved, but the people on the boat that slowly finds its way to the raft don't have any intention of helping the survivors -- they just want Walt. A struggle ensues and the strangers end up shooting Sawyer and destroying the raft just before they spirit Walt away in the dark night.

Flashback:

• Scenes leading up to the departure of flight 815 are in the flashback, where we see all the passengers finally seated and ready for takeoff.

OMG Moment:

• Arnzt dies via explosion after miss-handling dynamite.
• The season ends with the hatch being blasted open and the survivors peering down into a deep, mysterious shaft …
