Theory 1

If Ben (aka Henry) really let Michael and Walt go home then wouldn't you expect them to tell the authorities, start the man-hunt, etc. etc.? Shouldn't someone have shown-up by now? Imagine if a flight with 100+ people really did go down today, and 2 months later two survivors wander home with a tale about an island. The public reaction and outpouring would be enormous. The country would be completely compelled to use all available resources to locate and save the rest of the survivors, especially now that we know Lost takes place in a 'real' world scenario. (As laid out by Ben.)Ben.)

Before following with a viable option, let me say I was somewhat disappointed last nght when Ben shows that the events in Lost actually do take place in the real world with GW is president, The Sox won the World Series, etc... Not to say that The Glass Ballerina was disappointing as whole - it was fantastic...

If Michael & Walt don't make it home -- no need for the call to arms.
I feel like they did not make it home or at least not yet. The characters will return to the show, but whether that means they will return on or off the island is anyone's guess. Just because they may be "off" the island does not mean they make it home. If they do make it off the island, island, I'd like to see them come face to face with Penny. She has the money & resources to get to them. She may be the only one who would know the truth from Michael & Walt.Walt. It's true that the actors who play Michael & Walt are not regulars this season, but I really believe they'll show up one way or the other. Maybe we'll have to wait a year. And there are still so many unanswered questions about Walt.Walt.

Didn't Ben explain to Michael when he let him go that he shouldn't try to find the island again? That he would just go in circles and never find it again? Maybe it has something to do with the hatch and that electromagnetic pulse that happens when the numbers aren't entered. Maybe the purpose of the hatch is to hide the island from the world. And the only time people from the outside get on the island is when there is a glitch, like what happened with the plane when Desmond didn't enter the numbers on time.....Also,time.....Also, Ben gave Michael specific cordinates to get away from the island, island, otherwise he wouldn't be able to leave the perimeter of the island.island. I think the hatch is key to keeping the island of the "world's radar"...

Theory 2

Kate and Sawyer are being trained to be others. Yeah, this is is way far off and could possibly never happen, but all of those other people were there, too. In the Lost Podcast, the producers talked about how the others were in castes, kind of like a social stratification, meaning that some "others" are more important than other "others". Maybe the rest of the people haven't been trained well enough to move up in the system, and over time the intensive labor changes how they think.
