Flashback: Sayid

OMG Moments:
  • Ms. Klugh orders Mikhail to kill her after getting caught by the Losties. Mikhail obliges.
  • Locke blows up the Flame station for no apparent reason and begins to not act like himself.

New Clues: Miss Klugh returns!
We get to see the eye patch man(Andrew Divoff )his character name is Mikhail Bakunin.
Also there's another instructional video.

Questions:
  • What do Klugh and Mikhail say in Russian?
    • This is the translation of the conversation:
Klugh: Mikhail! You know what to do.
Mikhail: We still have another way.
Klugh: We cannot risk. You know what to do.
Mikhail: We still have another way.
Klugh: We cannot risk. You know the conditions.
      Mikhail: We have another way.
Klugh: They know us. We will not let them [unintelligible]. You know what to do. It is an order.
Mikhail: But we still have another way! (pause) I'm sorry! (shoots) (End)
  • Why was The Flame hatch the only one rigged to explode?
  • Sayid said the saddle stirrups were set for someone shorter than Mikhail. Ms. Klugh was pretty tall. Who was the short person?
  • Was this where Juliet got the beef for Jack's hamburger?
  • In the flashback, why was Sayid working under an assumed name?
  • How much sense does it make to require an operative to play a chess match before being able to report that the Hostiles have taken over?

Trivia:

The Surrealism of Enter77:
This episode written by Tom and Damon returns to the classic Surreal Formula:.Reject the reality around you for Truth( the Island and especially the Flame Hatch),,reject the interior reality(subconscious, Flashback memories) for Truth,,but analyse the interface of the two realities of Man and create from ones Imagination a new reality, The Surreal.

Sayid,, a Truthful Character, no matter the Pain of it, delivered his Truth and ,,as what is becoming a Motif,, is once again Frustrated by Locke, man of Faith. Those two should not hang out together. Lockes addiction to Gamesmanship,,playing Chess in this case,,blinds him to more serious levels of Gamesmanship going on around him. Locke's naivete' is striking in this episode as is Sawyers Bluster.

So who Won in all this Game playing? In All this rivalry of Attitude and Perspective,, ways of peceiving and thinking,, who Won? Mikal and Klugh definetly not,,despite pleas of , " another way"..Mikal succumbs to her demands and ends her existance..Locke still blames his actions on what somebody else told him to do. Kudos for Danielle; she won't even play the game..Sayid is immediately Tested on his new found " forgiveness" and eats his frustration with Locke,,aah but the Cat,, the Cat reminds him of the best,, reminds of the " Rise up" to another reality..reminds him of The Surreal....Perhaps Hurleys example of rising above the Winner/ Loser polarity,, will serve to show Sawyer the way to saying.." I'm sorry".

Advertisements back in December stated that this part of seson 3 the Losties would discover Hope. Fascinating exploration so far in all these episodes of recent,,on where Hope is and its nature..With out Hope,, nobody wins.

Theories:

  • Locke will kill Mikhail Bakunin.

Notes/Observations:
- Looks like we won't be getting any more food drops... Thank you Locke.
- The woman that Sayid tortured looked very much like Alex. I can't think there's any connection to her and Rousseau, but it's something I'm going to keep an eye on. That cat got to the island somehow.
-The Bible Verse on Eko's stick (the "compass bearing") was matched up with the wrong reference. Eko's stick read "Lift up your eyes and look north" John 3:05 John 3:05 says this: "Jesus answered, 'I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.'" The actual reference to this verse is Genesis 13:14 "The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, 'Lift up you eyes and look north and south, east and west.'" It refers to God's granting Abraham the land which he saw. One wonders if this oversight is what led them to an Other's outpost. Perhaps they would have found something better had they read the stick properly? -L.A. EDIT: The "John 3:05 refers to John Locke going North on a compass bearing of 305.
