I was thinking more along the lines of it had to do with Eloise Hawking's explanation of unpredictability of the results of the flight if it didn't quite match up with the original Flight 815. That's kind of why I figured Sun stayed in the present at least. As far as Locke and Ben are concerned I think it has to do with 1. they are not part of the Oceanic 6 (Sun's being stuck in present makes me sort of question this theory), and, 2. Ben and Locke are the only ones that we know of to have turned the wheel in the Orchid and come back to the island. We know that when you turn the wheel you are exiled from the island. However neither are on the main island right? Locke is still with the new survivors last we saw him and Sun knocked Ben out before taking the boat to the main island.

As for Frank it wasn't a matter of convincing, but there is sure a lot of coincidences with him. He was supposed to be the pilot of the original Flight 815... he was part of the freighter crew, he took the Oceanic Six from the island, and he's conveniently the pilot of the Flight that is supposed to take the Oceanic 6 back... there is more to Frank, has to be lol. I'll be highly annoyed if there isn't...
