I wonder if this means anything to anyone:
LOST=12 15 19 20
That is how the letters in LOST correlate in the alphabet. Also notice that in the correct spelling of LOST, the numbers are still in chronological order. May not sound like much, but I like numbers, and I find that interesting.
The lottery numbers are 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42.
15 is the only number in the lottery number and in the chronological spelling of LOST.
4 PLUS 8 is 12.
42 MINUS 23 is 19.
So that takes care of 12, 15, and 19.
I did not want to have to use sets of numbers twice but I had to, to come up with 20. The easiest solution is:
16 PLUS 4 is 20.
Somehow, the where the letters used to make up the name LOST, chronologically in the alphabet are related to the numbers from the lottery, the hatch, etc.
I know you could come up with a million theories on the lottery numbers, but I haven’t read this one yet.
What do you guys think?

I dont know if your theory that he worked for Dharma might be right... but the brainwashing part kinda makes sense. Mainly because a few episodes back, we found that the others were brainwashing Alex's boy friend. Remember, they locked him to a chair in a room play loud techno music and flashing random colors and images all day and night. Maybe, the Dharma people or the others somehow discovered that Sam intercepted the transmission and learned about the numbers (or maybe even what they mean) so they at some point kidnapped him and brainwashed him to assure that their meaning would never be discovered.

When Hurley goes to see Lenny about the numbers, Lenny tells him that Sam, a man he was working for, told him the numbers. We then learn that Sam was stationed at a listing post moneriting long wave transmitions over the Pacific. After years of static, he heres the numbers in the static. It doesn't sound like he is part of Dharma. It sounds like he got caught in the middle of what ever Dharma is doing, just like the survivors.

If you remember Hurley's explanation of the numbers though, he says that that guy heard them while in the Navy, stationed at some remote listening post in the Pacific. (presumably he heard the transmission from the Island itself)

yeah, he was working in the military, not with Dharma. But Dharma has everything to do with the numbers and the show.

hi from watching all the movies that were made last year, the ones discussing darma and hanso corp... anyway in those video's there is links made to the scientists working for hanso being the cleverist people in the world, they are intended to be working out a theory for the numbers. Now in the films the girl "Rachel Blake" talks to a guy that owns a mental institute where allt he scientist are being kept, its like a cover up. Maybe the guy hurley met had just gone mad from only ever discussing the numbers, and they left him in the institute.
Thats my theory, Luke

i don't think it is the best theory,it is not a great theory at all,it is just a little bit thinking work that's all. a good theory is that wat is very complecated whit many different sources and explanations. i think the numbers are the " password" to all the meaning of everything and also those numbers are probaly connected with everything and when you do some math or anything yoou will get all answers with those numbers. and also the valenzetti foundation syas that those numbers are the exat years, months and hours of when humankind will "suicide" them selves ( a nuclear bom etc). and the dharma has a order to change those numbers ,in other words the dharma must change the time when humankind destroyes them selves,to keep it from happening as long as they can. and when they spread those numbers it has a hypnotasing power what does something and the matters will not go as the would go in original way.
finally I just think that the numbers will have some kind of mathematical power.and the numbers have a exit to everywhere. it is just like when in one years yoou can do a mathematical test on something adn in the next year it doesn't come out like it came out in the last year.
4+8+15+16+23+420 108 and the number 108 I have read it somewhere that in somewhere asia or in india this number had a very strong meaning to somehting.
What you think? i don't think it was the best theory or a very great one ,it was just a theory. comment it please

i think you r wrong. but if u want to see something bizar take a look at season 1 the episode called Numbers. U can see Hurley talking with the japanese guy of the orentation film. the japanese guy is a doctor that works in the mental institution where Hurley and Libby were. i think that this institution is connected to the dharma. Oceanic Airline is also connected to them. U can see in some episodes of season 1 and 2 a part of the dharma logo on the fuselage.

actually, it's not the same guy, or at least not the same actor. I thought it was too, until I checked the cast listings and found that 2 different actors played the 2 roles (though they may have chosen 2 guys who look alike in order to fuel the deception--who ever knows with these writers??)
