Atlantide Theory

The island is Atlantis.

The Others are the last survivors of this lost and ancient civilisation (and perhaps also the children of the scientists of the dahrma). The statue in the last episode of season 2 could represent those strange people. We know that the Egyptians (in the real world) could have had relations with the Atlantan people so that can explain the hieroglyphs in the hatch. The Atlantis myth includes a great scientific knowledge of this civilisation. In the real world, we have never found Atlantis: this could explain the fact that they can not escape from the island and that no one have found them.I think the Dharma and Alvar Hanso have found the Atlantis island and also the great power of this ancient civilisation. The Others use that power which can explain the black smoke monster that can scan people. The Others have mental powers due to the knowledge and the gentic code (DNA) of the Atlantan civilisation.

I also think that this would be a good explanation - it would also explain the healing properties of the island.

tbh i would post this myself but i have neither the time nor the patience, maybe some other time. But in my oppinion they are in the bermuda triangle.......self explanitory tbh

I started to make this theory a while ago but didnt know where to post it. Anyway I totaly agree with u because of all the facts pointing towards thois theory. Another example of this theory is in one of the last episodes of 2 season, where a group of guys are flying in a plane and going for a signal and at the same time we see the purple thing that blew up so the signal was there for the crew of the plane but when the hatch blew up the signal dissapeared and we get to see that the crew in the plane was flying over an icy place, possibly antarktis which in popular theory about atlantis says that atlöantis could have been located under the ice of antarktis, u can check that theory out on wiki just type atlantis. Then the polar bears could explain and be connected to antarktis and the lost island being under the antarktis ice. The foot that have been seen on the coast of the island had 4 toes and another popular myth was that the atlantis people had 4 toes etc, check this out on wiki. Also check the scene with sawyer when he sees that they are on this little "alcatraz" island and just in front of him is the real island, in the background u can see another island and now check the map of atlantis on wicki there is two islands just outside the real Atlantis island, but this supporting argument is a bit off. Check this out "Atlantis was an ancient, now-submerged, highly-evolved civilization which had ships and aircraft powered by a mysterious form of energy crystal. He also predicted that parts of Atlantis would rise in 1968 or 1969. The Bimini Road, a submarine geological formation just off North Bimini Island, discovered in 1968, has been claimed by some to be evidence of the lost civilization (among many other things) and is still being explored today" its from wicki about atlantis. So atlantis theory could have been the inspiration of the Lost creators. Also nothe the energy crystal which could have been the push the button energy source in the series. Cheers Daniil.

The concept of Lost..the idea behind the show..u and everyone else believes that we are seeing this island from the point of view of a group of surviours from a plane crash which we belive is why the show is called "Lost" but i believe that is not the case it is called Lost becoz it is about an island that is Lost to civilisation not about this band of survivours..think about it each episode we are seeing more about this ilsand from other characters perspectives..e.g. Juliet who is an "other" and the french women even from those outsdie the lost world like in the ARG with rachel blake and where did they all go idea.. also i believe that the island wasnt underneath ice as mentioned it is a tropical island just..no one knows were it is..and that goes to my next point why Dharma didnt tell anyone about the island and why everything is so.."hush hush" so to speak..it becoz the island of atlantis wants to stay a secret..Dharma wanted it like this becoz 2 reasons 1) they wanted a place were they could conduct theyre experiments in peace and seclusion from the peering eyes of the worrld and 2) They wanted to be the ones who told the owrld after they had finished with the island about this great discovery imagine the headlines "Ancient island Atlantis discovered by the Hanso Foundation!" And te hostiles well they are a differant story they are comprised of others whom have become lost upon this secret island and have either decided to join "the hostiles" or die in the trecherous waters or the lethal jungle...so wat factors actually help this theory..the giant statue of a foot..the fact that the hostiles..have been on the island for a very long time and also maybe te island is a family secret since the only person in the outside world to know about it is Alvar Hanso whom would probably have been told by his great grandfather Magnus Hanso ( the man who was supposdly buried near the ship the black rock..this comes from the map on da blast door)

On www.dharmasecrets.com, in the theory section, there is this theory called "BIG Thoery" which is very similar on these lines and you could say this adds to this. I believe in this theory strongly.
