Captain Gault

Who he is now: After Desmond and Sayid traveled to the Kahana, Sayid wanted to talk to the Captain, only to be denied by Omar. The Captain did, however, wanted to talk to Frank.

Captain Gault made his first visual appearance right after Regina committed suicide. He approaches Sayid and Desmond, and says that the engines have been sabotaged, but when they are fixed, they will move the ship to "Safer Waters", under the command of the owner of the freighter, Charles Widmore. He then shows them the flight recorder of Flight 815, found in the wreckage at the Sundra Trench.

Gault discovered two members of the crew trying to escape on the raft. He personally beat them up, and warned the rest of the crew not to escape, reminding them of what happened to George Minkowski and Brandon. Sayid later enters his room with Kevin Johnson, revealing that his real identity is Michael Dawson, a survivor of Flight 815.

After Keamy and the mercenaries returned, Keamy accused Gault of telling Ben about his identity. Gault says it was not him, and brings him to Michael. Keamy attempts to kill Michael, but he fails, because the gun jams. Gault tells Keamy that they need Michael to fix the engines, because he was the one who sabotaged them. Keamy later forcibly takes Gaults key and opens up a safe with a "secondary protocol" book inside. He then tells Gault to fix his gun.

Gault told Desmond and Sayid to hide from Keamy. Sayid, however, decides to take the raft, and will start transporting people to the Kahana. Later that night, Keamy prepared to leave the ship, going back to the Island. Frank has second thoughts on flying the helicopter. Keamy slits Ray's throat, prompting Gault to fire a warning shot and confront Keamy. Keamy shows the device on his hand, distracting Gault. Keamy takes this moment to shoot and kill Gault. He takes the gun from him and takes off on the helicopter.
