Medical Project Gone Awry...
Oct 7 2006, 6:23 PM EDT One theory I have is that the “others” are people who ran the Darma project... until there was an accident. What if in another station they were creating a disease and it got released throught the island. That could explain why Desmond's partner had that radon suit and the reason why he told Desmond to take those shots of the medicine. Also that could be why the “others” don’t want the survivors to leave. That could be why they themselves cannot leave, so they or the survivors would not spread the disease to the rest of the world. This theory might even be what the third season is about… 14 out of 18 found this valuable. Do you? |

Oct 8 2006, 9:00 AM EDT But the second season showed Desmond's partner taking off the suit as soon as he was out of the hatch so would'nt that prove that he did not really need the suit and that there was no disease? 1 out of 7 found this valuable. Do you? |

Oct 9 2006, 7:37 AM EDT But perhaps this doesnt really disprove the theory. Kelvin could have simply stopped believing that the disease exists (he was planning to escape on desmond's boat). He was wearing the suit when he found desmond which means that he was wearing it before he met desmond anyway. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Oct 19 2006, 7:04 PM EDT possible disproof of this theory is Ben's offer to take Jack home. Or that they let Walt and Michael go. I'm dying to learn more about the disease, though. 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Nov 6 2006, 10:14 AM EST There never was a disease. Kelvin just made the story up so Desmond would keep pushing the button after he would have fixed the boat and escaped. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Nov 6 2006, 9:21 PM EST "There never was a disease. Kelvin just made the story up so Desmond would keep pushing the button after he would have fixed the boat and escaped. "But Kelvin was wearing the suit before he found Desmond. Also Ethan was telling Claire about the disease when he captured her 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Medical Project Gone Awry...
Nov 8 2006, 6:18 PM EST The fact that Kelvin was wearing the suit before he found Desmond doesn't really say much. Think about what happened when the plane crashed and we see Ben tell one of the others to go and pretend to be one of the survivors in order to get information about them. They saw the plane crash and thought out how to trick the survivors by acting like one of them, Kelvin could have known Desmond was on the island before he ran into him and wore the suit just to make him afraid of a nonexistant disease. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Feb 16 2007, 9:03 AM EST What if the disease was that they couldn't have children anymore? That would explain why all the others are over 30 and why they keep stealing babies. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
