Here's how I think it goes:
Swan: Electromagnetic + Parasychological Research (The magnet ... its pretty obvious + Desmond sees the future) Pearl: Psychological Research (Pile of journals) Hydra: Zoological Research + Human / Utopian Studies (Cages + Mindwashing Session) Flame: Contact with mainland and Supplies (That whole episode "Enter 77") Staff: Hospital (It's a hospital, I mean, look at it) Arrow: Climate Research (That's all that's left)
Of course, I'm probably wrong, but it does make sense if multiple studies were performed in each facility, maybe even two studying the same (esp. Psychology).
p.s. Doesn't it seem like some of the strange happenings are combinations of these 6 studies?
Smoke Monster - Parapsychology + Climate (+ Human Utopian Studies (It seems to purify the island of evil-doers)) E.M. Anomaly - Electromagnetism + Human Utopian Studies (Healing) + Parapsychology (Desmond's reaction to the blast) Polar Bears - Climate + Zoology
There are probably more connections too.

keep also in mind that, In Greek mythology, Apollo ( the ideal of the kouros (a beardless youth), was the archer-god of medicine and healing, light, truth, archery and also a bringer of death-dealing plague.
Arrow station =archer-god Staff station = medicine and healing e.t.c.

in the episode 20 promo a dharma centre sign is shown which has the word 'NAMASTE' written over it .it is a word hindus use it for greeting and dharma is also first used by hindus, so instead of looking into outer space and other theories we should try to link the lost storyline with hindu mythology

People were supposed to see the shark logo, but it wasn't meant to be anything incredibly significant. My guess is that it has something to do with the Hydra Station, and the experiments with animals.

In greek Mythology Fire was given to man by Prometheus. He was punished for this by being chained to a rock and having his liver pecked out by a bird, then regenerate it and have the process continue for eternity.

this can be a long one...clearly the map locke saw was shaped just like these octagonal dharma logos. the three bars on each side of the octagon are from the ancient chinese book of wisdom called the I Ching, or Book of Changes, and all represent different symbols and even compass directions. comparing the setup of these "trigrams" of lines to the locations we have seen on lockes map, we have starting at 6 oclock(the bottom, where the swan is on the blast door map) and going clockwise, 1-Water(north and where the swan is located!) 2-mountain (NE) 3thunder (E) 4-wind (SE) 5-Fire (south) 6-Earth(SW) 7-Lake(west) 8-Heaven(NW). going by this it MUST be noted that henry gale (ben, watever) told michael and walt to sail at 325degrees to be rescued. if NORTH (where the swan is) is considered the 360th degree then going clockwise, 325 degrees corresponds almost exactly to where "save yourself from hell" is written on the blast door map

You mention the Chinese book "I Ching" or Book of Changes, and most recently in "Not In Portland", whilst Karl is being forced to watch the images on screen, the words "Everything Changes" appear. I wonder if they are at all connected?

On the grid with the original logos, the one which looks like a dome, is supposedly called "the eye"
parapsychological study is the study of Non-normal things, e.g. ghosts or UFO's. this is in connection between kates horse and walts appearences, and maybe even the reason for some peoples dreames, like charlie's.
it also includes religion in that station.
i have also a theory that the area on locke's map which is labeled '?' is a dark matter plantation, explaining many of the inomalies on the island, like the magnetism and concreted walls, which probably restrict radiation. this also might explaing ghosts since dark matter has a theory of trans-universe transportation (like black holes, on a smaller scale)
Another thing, 0.000108 atoms are in a milligram of dark matter ( number refrence) and E=MCsquared is equal to
108= 4x8x15x16>32/41.

"Flame Station - A logo of a Flame. Mythology does not seem to follow with the other which do have greek mythology connect to them." surely the greek connection to the flame would be Prometheus, the titan who stole fire from the gods and gave it to man; thus begining the enlightenment of mankind. perhaps this facility is where all the information is collated (maybe it's supposed to be connected to the tube that all the reports from the pearl get sent away in)

because, as this page states, the island seems to have a predominantly Greek significance, my theories of the Island being Plato's self-described lost civilization of Atlantis seem to grow stronger and stronger. The four-toed statue also seems very Greek, so this detail also supports my theory.
