September 22, 2004. A plane crashes on a seemingly deserted island. Over a thousand miles off course at the time of the crash and with a broken transponder, a quick rescue doesn't look likely. Then, add in pilot-eating monsters, a 16-year-old distress signal, and the appearance of people who weren't originally on the plane. It doesn't take long for everyone to realize that survival seems to be an even bigger worry than rescue.

Throughout the first season, we meet the survivors of Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 and we start to learn what paths led them to the island. At the same time, we see them struggle to learn exactly what is happening on this mysterious island.
