Despite the shows allusions to philosophers and religions, LOST actually has the intellectual content of a sitcom, and its success is the result of expensive special effects, competent acting, and well paid writers.
It would be a fallacy to actually have a logical theory or truth to the show, because this is not the point of the show, rather the point is for viewers to trying to find the plot, which is half of the entertainment, but the actual "truth" behind LOST is meaningless.
Perhaps the actual truth is guarded so well because it does not exist because it is so empty.

Just as with other shows of this type (X Files comes to mind) the minute anything is explained the show's over.
I think the writers pitched a pilot and had maybe a season's worth of story arc conceptualized. Once it was picked up and the ratings came in they realized that this could go on for awhile. They also realized that there must always be more questions than answers or nobody will bother tuning in to next week's installement. |

I agree writers change the story at their will, like when they change the story to include the justification for torture, like many other TV series when the issue was discussed nationally because of the torture inflicted to Irakys by our troops during the Irak War, they may have a story but they will not hesitate to change it if the ratings tell them to do it, shame on the writers that do not respect the original Story

I am sooo afraid this show is going to try keep increasing the pace of excitement, passion, mystery, drama, betrayals and twists... then just end, leaving me feeling empty, disappointed and w/ tons of unanswered questions. Sort of like my relationship with that attorney I used to date!
I'm no scientist... but there just can't realistic, scientific explanations for all the "unexplained" things going on, some-- maybe, but all of 'em... no way. I love watching the show & I've got my fingers, eyes and legs crossed hoping it's not a big let-down! [Darts to her kitchen to pop-up some popcorn for the next episode]. |
