Ajira Airways Flight 316 was a flight from Los Angeles to Guam. On board the plane were Jack, Kate, Sayid and his escort, Sun, Hurley, Ben, and a man who gave Jack his condolences. There were other people in the economy class. Hurley had bought 78 tickets to make sure only a limited amount of people could go on board. The pilot of the plane was Frank Lapidus.

Eloise Hawking chose this flight because its path went directly over the Island, so this would be the way for the Oceanic 6 to return to the Island (since the way they come back must be a similar as possible as the way they originally came to the Island).

While flying over the Pacific, the plane began to hit turbulence. Suddenly, a bright light filled the cabin. Jack, Hurley, and Kate woke up on the Island with no memory of the crash. The other people on board were nowhere to be seen, and there was no signs of wreckage.

Here are my thoughts on what happened with Flight 316.

The Oceanic 6 went to the Island during the 1970s, but the rest of the passengers went to the present time. This explains why Jack, Kate, and Hurley could not find anyone else or any wreckage and why the survivors on the Island found an Ajira Airways water bottle in the canoe.

Another theory that I did not come up with, but agree with, is that Hurley was told by Charlie to go onto the plane. I took this theory a step further, and I think that Charlie was on the plane, which is why Hurley brought the guitar with him.

As for Ben, I think that he was beaten by someone connected to Widmore. However, one of my friends thinks that it was Sayid who attacked him.

One final thing. Frank Lapidus was the pilot of the plane because it was his fate to crash on the Island. Remember, he was supposed to of been the pilot of Oceanic Airlines Flight 815, but Seth Norris was the pilot instead.
