Freighter
Theories:
- My theory is that the people on the frieghter are part of the Dharma initiative and they came back to take the island back from the Hostiles (the others). When John beat the chess game in the flame station the computer asked John if the Hostiles had taken over this station. When John typed in 77 the station exploded. This then could have warned the Hanso foundation of the purge and have prompted Dharma to send a freighter full of people to find the island and get it back from the others. Dharma knew the general location of the island, but I belive that you cannot find the island unless you have a source on the island to navigate too. This is why the submarine wouldn't be able to return to the island after taking Jack home, the jamming beacon was not allowing a signal to reach the outside world for the submarine to navigate to.
- Great theory but all comunications to and off the island were blocked by the looking glass, so therefore when John beat the chess game it may have sent a signal, but it would'nt have been able to be transmitted.

About this theory... it has been a while since Dharma employees have been on the island, and I think if there were outside members still alive, they would have already known or come back to the island.
