Just before his demise Mr Eko is stumbling around the area above the Pearl station. He has refused to ask for forgiveness from the apparition of his brother. Before the black smoke appears there is a magnificent multi-branched tree in the background.
As the black smoke throws Eko around, does it make the sign of the cross with his body as if absolving him from his sins?
