The Hot Air Balloon crashed on the Island at an unknown time. Henry Gale was in the balloon, but died (the reason of death is not known). Ben took his identity, and when he was captured, claimed to of crashed in the balloon. He drew a map of the location of the balloon, which Sayid, Charlie, and Ana-Lucia followed. Ben also said that his wife was buried at a grave, located by the grave. They found the balloon, but Sayid was not convinced. He then dug up the grave, and did not find the body of the wife, but of a man named Henry Gale.

The Hot Air Balloon contained several logos of various companies. The companies are Widmore Labs, Minnesota Metallurgy, Nozz-a-La Cola, and Mr. Cluck's.
