The Actor: Tony Lee

Biography: Jae Lee was the wealthy son of the owner of the Seoul Gateway Hotel and the hotel's general manager. He attenedattended Harvard and studied MedievilMedieval Russian Literature, where he met and fell in love with an American woman. He met Sun on a family arranged date, but told her he wasn't interested because of his previous love, which apparently failed.
He taught Sun english (at her request) and ended up having an affair with her. He gave her a strand of pearls and asked her to leave for America with him.
Mr Paik found out about the affair, but instead of telling Jin about it, lied to Jin and told him Jae was stealing from him, addressing this in terms of 'honour'. He ordered Jin to 'deliever'deliver a message' to Jae (i.e kill him). Jin found him and assaulted him, but couldn't bring himself to kill Jae, so he told them to leave the country and never return.
Jae Lee ended up committing suicide, falling from many stories high, landing on Jin's ca with the string of pearls he attempted to give Sun clutched in his hands.

Episode Appearances: "The Glass Ballerina", "The Whole Truth","...And Found"

Who he is: Jae Lee hails from a wealthy Korean family that has made it's money in real estate, primarily building and managing hotels. Jae's family owns and runs the SoeulSeoul Gateway Hotel where he was introduced to Sun and where Jin works as a doorman for a time. Sun and Jae's families introduce them to one another in hopes they will fall in love and get married, but at the time of the introduction Jae is already involved with an American woman (unseen). Jae and Sun became friends while Jae taught Sun the English language and eventually they also have an affair while Sun was married to Jin. After Mr. Paik finds out about the affair between Sun and Jae, he sends Jin to kill Jae, but does not inform him of the affair. Jin beats Jae up, but cannot kill him. As Jin leaves Jae's building and is getting into his car, Jae's body falls from high above and he is killed instantly as he crashes down on Jin's car. Before Jae dies, he thinks Jin has come to kill him because he has found out about the affair he was having with Jin's wife. He dies not knowing that Jin never knew either.

Hails from: Seoul, Korea

Who he was before: A wealthy entrepreneur who builds and manages hotels; Sun's English instructor;Sun's friend and lover.

Who he is now: Deceased.

Big secrets: Had an affair with Sun, unbeknownst to Jin. Had a relationship with an unknown American woman.

Questions:
Is he the father of Sun's baby?
Jae is not the father of Sun's baby, Jin is, as seen in"D.O.C." when examined by Juliet.

Theories: Jae's American affair may have been with one of the other 815 survivors or another character already introduced on the show.
A popular theory was that Jae's death was not a suicide, and that he was pushed. Possible culprits included Sun and Sun's father. This theory was disproved on an episode of The Official LOST Podcast when Damon Lindelhof confirmed that Jae, did indeed commit suicide. This is a case of unintentional misleading.
