Flashback: Ben and Jack

Synopsis: Ben and Jack are playing chess in Ben's house at the barracks. Ben says that he regrets Jack's decision to leave the island. He says he will still let him leave, but cannot guarantee his departure, for the Island can make him stay. Jack disagrees with that statement and makes a move. Ben says that when he leaves the island, he will want to come back, but Jack says he never wants to come back. Ben then does an illegal "castle" move, and seems to of won the game.

Questions:

• What does Ben mean when he says "If the Island doesn't want you to leave, it won't let you"?

Trivia:

• This episode takes place between "Stranger in a Strange Land" and "The Man From Tallahassee".
• Ben's final move (called a "castle") was illegal, because the king was on the wrong square. Jack's king was also on the wrong square, which means it could be a blooper.
