LOST is the Ultimate Reality Show..JJ said so in season 1 DVD interview. How can this be? Polar bears on a tropical Island, Smokie the Monster,,disconnected Time,,disconnected characters, disconnected dialogue, black and white polarity,, emp.. unanswered questions, mystery mystery and more mystery,,There is a perspective that makes " sense" out of all of this show. There is a perspective that leaves one fulfilled and in my case " grateful" at the end of every episode. The Surreal perspective answers the question asked through out LOST,, " Are You Him ?"...I am Him..You are Him...The Ultimate Reality is answering the Ultimate Surreal Question.." Who Am I?"..
..Lost uses All of the Surreal techniques in its presentation. It begins episodes with the Surreal Symbol , The Opening Eye..the symbol of the two worlds of man, inner and exterior realities,,both to be rejected for Truth. By the end of each episode, these two subjective " realities" force a 3rd reality,, where Truth is found. How do you " feel' at the end of a episode?..at the end of EHH for example..that is your Truth,, that is a part of Who You Are..That is Your Reality... LOST gets you to Your Reality by using all the surreal techniques; juxtaposing inconguent items ;emphasis on the irrational of the rational,,distorted time,,etc etc..The formula of the show..Island reality and flashback reality combined for a new evolved reality IS the Surreal formula....but to put it very simple..LOST IS A SURREAL EXPLORATION OF THE MODERN HUMAN CONDITION. In that exploration it is YOU who is being found.
