Overview: Mittelos Bioscience was first introduced to Lost in "Not In Portland". It is a privately-funded company. Richard Alpert, along with Ethan recruited Juliet.

In Lost: Richard met Juliet in an attempt to recruit her. He showed her a slide show about Mittelos Bioscience. He says it is located in Portland. Juliet doesn't want the job. She jokingly says that she will only join if her ex-husband, Edmund. gets run over by a bus. One day, Juliet mets Edmund and talks about Rachael, Juliet's sister, becoming pregnant. Edmund suddenly gets run over by a bus. Juliet decides to join Bioscience, and then Richard says it is not in Portland, but in an isolated area far away. In "One of Us", Juliet mets Richard and Juliet Arrives at the Island Ethan at the airport. Richard tells her to drink some orange juice with a drug that will make her fall asleep. She drinks it, and falls asleep. She then wakes up on the submarine. She comes out and goes onto the island. The time she was supposed to stay was 6 months, but she has been on the island for around 3 years, 3 months.

As a teenager, Locke was asked to participate in the Mittelos Laboratories Science Camp, which he rejected.
