Octagon Global Recruiting is a recruiting company that was advertised during the
Season four finale, "
There's No Place Like Home: Parts 2 & 3". It is the main company involved in the Dharma Initative Recriuting Project.
The company has a website,
Octagonglobalrecruiting.com, which people can sign up at. The site now redirects to
DharmaWantsYou.com.
The advertisement showed that a recruiting session would take place in San Diego in July 24th-27th. This is the same date and location for the 2008 Comic-Con. In the commercial, it showed a list of positions, which is the following (shown in order from left to right):
| Meteorologists | Psychologists | Parapsychologists | Zoologists | Physicists |
| Mathematicians | Botanical Researchers | Engineers | Builders | Drivers |
| Health Care Workers | Communications Specialists | Neuroscientists | Janitors | Engineers |
| Biologists | Astrophysicists | Ex-Military | Electricians | Vets |
| IVF Consultants | Teachers | Architects | Ichthyologists | Transport Mechanics |
| Immunologists | Nurses | Illustrators | Auditors | Minibus Drivers |
| Recycling Coordinators | Aeronautical Engineers | Horticulturists | Dentists |
|
Trivia: - Engineers appear twice, in the 8th and 15th position.
- The bottom 16 occupations, Dentists to Electricians, spell out Dharma Initiative, using the first letter of each position.
- At the end of the video, a person is typing in the numbers 8 15 16. This footage was taken from "Man of Science, Man of Faith", when Desmond typed in the numbers.
- The first 4 positions, meteorologists, psychologists, parapsychologists, and zoologists, are mentioned by Dr. Marvin Candle in the Swan Orientation film.
Emails: Two emails were sent from
Octagonglobalrecruiting.com. Both emails were sent before Comic-Con, where the website made its transition to
DharmaWantsYou.com. After this, emails were sent from DharmaWantsYou.com. Detailed information and a complete list of emails can be found
here.
Comic-Con: At the Comic-Con, there is a booth, where people can sign up to take a test. When ready, they are allowed to enter an octagon shaped room. Inside the room are cameras on the ceiling, and a set of headphones and a television. There are
8 different test, each with their own name: Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, Amalthea, Himalia, Elara, and Leda. These are the names of 8 moons of the planet Jupiter. The test consists of a series of bizarre questions, such as "You just took away my child's favorite toy. Why?", and strange images, where they must say the first thing that comes to their mind. After the test is complete, which takes around 5 minutes, they are told if they passed or not. They are told to go to the Lost panel on Saturday, with their test sheet, and an ID card that is given to them. There is a code on the back, which can be entered at
Dharmawantsyou.com on July 28th. For people that cannot be at San Diego in person, there will be application forms which can be filled out on that website on that day. The site did go up in the late hours of July 28th, already the 29th in most time zones.
