Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute.

Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute is a facility for the mentally disabled, located in Santa Rosa, California. Hurley has been brought to the Institute twice, once before crashing on the Island, and once after being rescued. Other patients that have been admitted to the hospital are Libby and Emily Locke.

Hurley was brought to Santa Rosa after the collapsing deck incident. Hurley believed that he was responsible for the deaths of several people after he stepped onto an overcrowded deck. During his first time there, he interacted with Dave, his imaginary friend. Dave attempted to convince Hurley that he needed to escape. Hurley stayed and was eventually released from the institute.

After being rescued, Hurley was brought back to Santa Rosa. Soon after this, he was visited by Matthew Abaddon, who was portraying an Oceanic Airlines attorney. He offered him a better place to o to, but Hurley rejected the offer. Abaddon then asked "Are they still alive?" Hurley became agitated by this, and Abaddon abruptly left.

Charlie came to visit Hurley at the institute. Hurley said that he saw him at the convenience store, and got freaked out by this because he had died. Charlie told him that "they need you". Hurley did not want to hear about this and counted to five. When he reached five, Charlie had disappeared.

After Locke came off the Island, he visited Hurley. At first, Hurley believed that he had died, because of his regular conversations with other dead people. When Hurley discovered that Locke was in fact alive, he was shocked and couldn't believe it. He noticed Abaddon looking from the background, saying that "he's evil". When Locke revealed that Abbadon was with him, Hurley did not want anything to do with Locke's plan to go back to the Island.

Sayid killed a man outside of Santa Rosa who was spying on Hurley. He broke him out of the institute. Before he left, he finished a game of chess he was playing, with Mr. Eko.
