When Desmond tried escaping by traveling on The Elizabeth, he said that he had been traveling for two and a half weeks, and should of arrived at Fiji, but only returned to the island.island. He described it as being a snowglobe.
The crashes all involve engine or structural failure: The crash of Flight 815,815, Desmond'sDesmond's yacht was damaged, and the helicopter Naomi was in had a engine failure. They all seem pulled to the island.island. Each marooning is violent and lethal.
It is possible that the only way to get off the island is to follow the compass bearing of 325, and that the submarine is not the only way off. Ben told Michael to follow that bearing to find rescue.
A referance to this theory is in The Wizard of Oz. There was no way of escaping Oz, just as if it was in a snowglobe. Also, Dorothy's uncle's name was Henry Gale, just like Ben's false name.
Support:
- There seems to be no way of escaping, except for a certain way.
Poking Holes:
- How would people get inside a "snowglobe"?
