thisis a very interesting idea, especially after Locke made the comment about there not being a real Jacob and Ben being the man behind the curtain, i didnt know Henery Gale was from the wizard of OZ but im going to check it out now.

Also the sub has been the only way off the island that has been proven, Ben gave Micheal and Walt a compass heading but whoknows where it took them. Desmond said he sailed for 3 weeks due West hoping for Fiji but came back to the island. If a magnetic pull was to pull Desmondos compas to point north tword the island, then if you were sailing west, you would just circle it.
