The Drug Smuggler's plane is a Beechcraft 18 plane from Nigeria carrying smugglers dressed as priests, and Virgin Mary statues with heroin inside. Mr. Eko was supposed to be in the plane, but was kicked out by another smuggler while trying to get inside. The plane somehow crashed on the island. It was first discovered by Nikki and Paulo, who did not tell anyone about their discovery. It was then later discovered by Locke and Boone. Locke, whose legs suddenly became paralyzed, told Boone to climb up the cliff, where the plane was currently situated at, and go inside. Locke was convinced that a way to open the hatch to the Swan was inside. Boone climbed up, but only Virgin Mary statues were inside. He turned on the radio, which worked. He started talking, saying that they were survivors of Flight 815, but the man on the other side said they were the survivors of Flight 815. The plane suddenly fell, with Boone still inside. This ultimately led to his death. Later, Eko and Charlie visited the plane. Eko discovered that his brother, Yemi was inside. They burnt the plane, but Charlie kept some statues for himself. He eventually kicked his drug addiction. It was later discovered, by Locke and Mr. Eko, that the plane was on top of a large ?. the ? was the entrance to the Pearl station. Mr. Eko died at this location when they, along with Sayid, Desmond, Nikki, and Paulo visited the station.

• If Locke was indeed intended to go to the plane as directed by his 'vision' then what in fact was the purpose of the visit as it only appears to have led to Boones death and nothing more.
