The Elizabeth is the sailboat Desmond used in the race around the world competition. It was owned by Libby's
husband, David, but he had recently died. Libby gave the boat to Desmond, believing that is what David would of wanted. Desmond thanked her, and said he'll win the race for love.

Desmond was caught in a storm during the race, and was knocked unconscious. He awoke on the Island, with Kelvin coming, and taking him to the Swan. While they were there, Kelvin secretly worked on repairing the boat. Desmond decided to follow him, and discovered what his plans were. Desmond accidentally killed him.

After the computer in the hatch became damaged, Desmond fled. A couple of weeks later, he returned, sailing on the Elizabeth just off the shore. Afterwards, Desmond lent the boat to , who planned on visiting the Others' decoy village. Along the way, Sayid, along with Sun and Jin who also joined the expedition, spotted the mysterious four-toed statue. They docked at the Pala Ferry, but were ambushed by Colleen and a few Others. Sun was still inside the boat at the time. Sun and Colleen had a confrontation, and Sun shot her, resulting in her later dying. Sun managed to escape, but the Others managed to capture the boat.
