The End?This is a featured page

On January 15, 2007, news outlets began reporting that Lost producers J.J. Abrams, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelhof recently met with ABC executives to begin discussions about when and how to end Lost. On May 07, 2007, fans woke to the news that the end date of Lost had been decided.

Fortunately for us, Lost won't be leaving our tv screens for good until May of 2010. Unfortunately, we'll have a long wait between the remaining seasons. The key points of the new contract that executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof recently signed with ABC are:
  • Lost will continue for three more seasons.
  • The three remaining seasons will consist of sixteen episodes each, totaling 48 episodes remaining and 120 episodes overall.
  • The final seasons will run in consecutive episodes (no reruns!) from February through May. Season four will begin in February 2008, five in February of 2009 and the sixth and final season in February 2010.
  • Cuse and Lindelof will be working exclusively on Lost through the end of the series.
In addition, the possibility of moving back to an earlier time slot has been discussed, but nothing has been decided yet.

While a shortened season and a nine month wait between season may upset some viewers, the producers and executives believe the introduction of an end date will help alleviate some viewer frustration.
  • From Carlton Cuse:
    • "People wait longer than eight months for the next books and films in the Harry Potter story and they don't seem to lose interest. We have faith that our audience, knowing exactly how much of the story we have left, is going to be with us for the rest of the ride." (USA Today)
    • "What we didn't know was how long we had to play the story out. By defining the endpoint we can now really map out the rest of the series in confidence."(CNN)
    • "We sort of view 'Lost' as a mosaic. Now there are only 48 more tiles that go into that mosaic, and we're figuring out, along with all the other writers, exactly where they all go." (CNN)
  • From Damon Lindelof:
    • "Shorter seasons will allow plots to be more tightly constructed and 'will make it a real event,' Lindelof says. 'We won't have to do episodes where people are standing on the beach looking at the water and wondering what's going to happen next.'" (USA Today)
    • "Lindelof said having the end point in sight was 'incredibly liberating. Like we've been running a marathon and we actually know where the finish line is for the first time.'" (CNN)
  • From Steve McPherson (ABC Entertainment president):
    • "splitting the current third season in two 'was not the best for the show.'" (USA Today)
    • "Due to the unique nature of 'Lost,' we knew it would require an end date to keep the integrity and strength of the show consistent throughout and to give the audience the payoff they deserve." (CNN)

I cannot imagine how everyone on the island will survive a nuclear? (atomic?) blast. A bomb would blow the island away. There would be nothing left but dust and a lot of radiation. But; imagining this show the way
I do anything could happen out of that blast. For all any of us know this bomb might put them back to the age of the Dinosaur. That would be cool. I wonder what that bald, bearded angry guy from the Darma Initiative's face
would look like when he's being chased down by a T Rex, or a couple of Rapters.
I do hope season 6 will be the best season yet and almost everyone has a happy ending in the season.

TheLostGirl Lost Conclusions… 2 Feb 26 2009, 9:35 PM EST by rprimeau95

Several individuals were summoned to the island. These special individuals are all links in a chain of very important events that will ultimately insure the survival of the human race. A catastrophic event will occur in the near future. It is up to these individuals to remain on the island which will be protected by a powerful electro magnetic field in combination with it laying on one of the most powerful ley lines on Earth. The coordinates of which are the numbers 4.8.15.16.23.42. To keep from being discovered the island renders ill fate to anyone who stumbles upon the mystery of the numbers (such as Hugo). Poor beloved Claire, when she followed her father into the jungle, just after laying Aaron to rest safely in the greenery to be rescued by James, she died of internal injuries from the house explosion in New Othertown. When the Oceanic six made it off the Island they altered fate, and changed the course of time . Now summoned back they will join those who stayed to be tossed about through time. Desmond ends up back at the Island with Penny who joins Kate, Jack, and the rest. Dear sweet Walter, who quite possibly possesses the power of astral projection. While those who returned to the island remain ageless and lost in time, more than 15 yrs go by, the Earth is on the verge of catastrophe, when Walter goes to the now teenage Aaron, Ji Yeon, Clementine (James’ daughter), and Desmond's Son.The four of them join Walt in his return to the Island, with the help of Faraday. Once there, Vincent seeks Walt out, and leads them to their parents. These individuals were chosen for their strength and compassion to continue the human race on the ever so Atlantean Island, the new Pangaea, and so the world begins again with the Lost.

Lost50s Series Disintegrating... 0 Feb 25 2009, 10:23 PM EST by Lost50s

I knew something was screwy with the Lost series when starting to watch it. But the screenwriters kept us in the dark, obviously now because they had no idea of the basic physics (and psychologies) of the situation they had created. "Pockets of EM energy" - indeed. What nonsense. Are there any adults on here? sheesh. Count me out.
