The golf course was built beby Hurley to relieve stress of the survivors soon after the crash. It was a two hole course that became very popular among the survivors. The first tournament played was dubbed by Hurley "the first, and hopefully last Island Open." At first, only Jack, Charlie, Michael, and Hurley were playing, but as soon as other people heard about it, they wanted a turn as well. Later, Kate and Jack were playing a challenge, to see who has the best accuracy. Kate went first, making a great shot that ended near the hole. Jack takes a swing, but the ball lands into the trees. As Kate and Jack look for his ball, they encounter the tailies. There waswere also various golf challenges that did not take place on the golf course.
