The KahanaThe Kahana is a ship that according to Naomi, is 80 nautical miles off the Island. She also says the helicopter is based on the ship. Naomi claimed that they are looking for Desmond, and is working for Penny. This was found to be false when Charlie contacted Penny, with her telling him it's not her boat. They are looking for Ben. T
The Kahana set sail from Fiji, where it was based at. Some of the people are aware of who they are working for, and that the plane wreckage is fake, others have no idea of the truth. The engines and radio was sabotaged, presumably by Kevin Johnson, leaving the boat stranded at its current position.

After the helicopter hit turbulence, it arrived on The Kahana. Desmond had suffered from "side effects", and was sent to the sick bay. Minkowski, the communications officer was also there, having the same problem as Desmond. They manage to reach the communications room, which was sabotaged by someone a couple of days ago. Minkowski dies as a result of the illness. Sayid manages to fix the equipment, and Desmond contacts his constant, Penny.

The Kahana in Fiji
After Regina committed suicide, Captain Gault appeared, and ordered to continue work as usual. Sayid and Desmond talk to him, and he reveals that Charles Widmore is the owner of the boat, and that he faked the plane wreckage that was found in the Sundra Trench. He also says that their mission is to find Ben. They were trying to get to safer waters, because some people had started to act strangely, but the engines were sabotaged.

Two people tried to escape, but CapitanCaptain Gault stopped them, beating them up. He said that no one will be leaving, and reminded everyone what happened to Brandon and Minkowski when they left.

Sayid approached Kevin Johnson, knowing he was Michael. He asked him how he came to be on the ship. Micheal says that he is working for Ben. Sayid apprehends Michael and takes him to Gault'sGault's room. He explains that Kevin Johnson is not his name, and that is is Michael Dawson. He says that he was a survivor of Flight 815, and he is a traitor.

After Keamy and the mercenaries return to the Kahana, Keamy takes Captain Gault's key, and opens a safe. Inside of it is a secondary protocol, a folder with the Orchid Logo on it. Later, Omar attaches a device onto Keamy's arm. When the mercenaries are about to leave the ship, Frank refuses to fly the helicopter. Keamy threatens to kill Frank, but cannot, or else there will be no one to fly him to the Island. Instead, he kills Ray. Captain Gault arrives, and there is a standoff between him and Keamy. Keamy shows Gault the device on his arm, distracting Gault. Keamy pulls out a gun, and shoots Gault, killing him. Seeing enough, Frank gives in, and flies the mercenaries to the Island.

The Kahana explodesThe first group of survivors reached the Kahana, only to soon discover that there is a bomb on the ship. Desmond, Michael, and Jin attempt to defuse it, but can only freeze the battery to prevent detonation. The 500 pounds of C-4 explosives is connected to the device on Keamy's arm. If he dies, the light would turn red. Ben kills Keamy out of vengeance over Alex. The light turns red, and they only have a quarter of the tank of liquid nitrogen left. Desmond runs out, only to find that the helicopter has returned. He warns them to turn back, but Frank has not choice but to land it, because it is out of fuel. They frantically hurry to refuel the helicopter, fix the leak, and place everyone on board. Frank, Jack, Sun, Desmond, Sayid, Hurley, Kate, and Aaron manage to get on board. Jin runs out, and finds the helicopter just took off. Sun pleads to land the helicopter to pick up Jin, but with the bomb to go off any moment, there was no chance of landing. Back at the bomb, the liquid nitrogen runs empty. Michael hears whispers, and Christian Shephard appears. He tells Michael "you can go". Michael asks who he is, and the bomb detonates, destroying the ship, killing the remaining people still on it.
