The Stadium is a sports arena located in L.A. Jack went to the Stadium to run during his break from the hospital after doing surgery on Sarah. Another man, Desmond was also running at the stadium, training for a sailing race across the road. Desmond was running at a quicker pace than Jack. Jack tried to keep up, but fell, hurting his ankle. Desmond comes to help him. Desmond asks what if Sarah can be saved. Jack says that it would be a miracle if that happened. Desmond's final words in their first encounter were " See you in another life, yeah?". Before training at the stadium, Penny arrived to met Desmond. Desmond asks how she found him. She says that with enough money and determination, anyone can be found. Penny reveals that she is getting married to someone. He asks why he is running away. Desmond says that he is doing it to win his honor back. He says that he will be back in a year, which never happened. This was their final conversation before Desmond crashed on the island.
