Who he is: Tom is an other. He is first seen in the first season finale, "Exodus" when he kidnapped Walt out at sea. In the second season, he disguises himself with a fake beard along with ragged clothes. We thought he as the leader, or an important person of the Others until we find out Ben is more important than him.

In "The Hunting Party", Jack, Sawyer, and Locke meet Tom. He says that Walt and the children are fine. He also says never to cross the line, and they won't bother the survivors if they don't. In "Live Together, Die Alone", his identity is revealed by Miss Klugh, and he takes off his beard.

Tom said to Kate "You're not my type" before she took a shower. he gave her new clothes and escorted her to Ben for breakfast. He supervised Ben's surgery and helped Jack during the surgery. When Sayid, Locke, and Kate came to rescue Jack, they saw Tom playing football with Jack.

After Michael and Walt went off the island, and back to civilization, Tom went to Manhattan to keep tabs on him. He found Michael in an alley, about to commit suicide. Tom approaches him. After Michael fights him, Tom gains the upper hand. Michael tells him to kill him. Tom says that the Island will not let him die. He says to Michael he has work to do, and to meet him at his penthouse at the Hotel Earle. Later, Michael visits him, after watching the news showing the discovery of Flight 815. Another man, Arturo is there, and Tom asks to speak in private with Michael. They kiss, and he leaves. Tom explains that the wreckage is a fake, and was placed there by Charles Widmore. He tells him that there is a boat docked in Fiji that will be departing to the island. Michael will be on the boat, which is owned by Charles Widmore. Tom phones Michael when he arrives at the boat. He says that he needs to make a list of the names of the people on board.

In "Through the Looking Glass", ten Other's including Tom went to the camp to kidnap the pregnant women. They did not know it was a trap. He survived the explosions, and captured Sayid, Jin, and Bernard. Ben told him to kill them via the walkie talkie when with Jack but Ben had previously advised Tom not to actually do it should he ask him to so Tom shot the sand, making it seem as if he killed them.Sawyer, Juliet, and Hurley came to rescue them. Tom surrendered, but Sawyer shot him anyway and said "that's for taking the kid off the raft". He then died.

• Why did Sawyer call him Zeke?

• This is most likely a reference to The Wizard of Oz, specifically the farm hand that ends up becoming the cowardly lion in Oz Land.
