YOUNG BEN ALIVE OR DEAD????????????!!!!!!!!!!!

First off I didn't think ABC would permit the writers to depict this, so Sayid actually shooting and killing Ben was out of the question for me. Not to say I couldn't see Sayid's character doing this, I just truly didn't think ABC would allow this... And I'm with your question, I don't see how this can float with any of Faraday's explanations. Do you find this valuable? |

According to Daniel Faraday, you cannot change the past. However, this brings up the whole thing with the survivors being part of the Dharma Initiative. Wouldn't the fact that Sawyer, Juliet, and the other survivors being part of the Dharma Initiative have changed the past? Not to mention the people that were killed or saved as a result of their actions. But maybe you could say that the events which happened in 1974-1977 have always happened with the survivors. This brings up the question of in reality, whether or not there are people among us from the future, just going along with their lives casually. This all sounds really weird though.We have all heard of the grandfather paradox. "If you go back in time and kill your grandfather, you wouldn't exist, so if you didn't exist, how could you go back in time to kill him?" This supports what Daniel Faraday said about not being able to change the past. We know Ben is alive in the present, so unless there are two Bens, then the young Ben is probably alive. Wow, looking back at what I wrote looks really confusing. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Do you find this valuable? |

"This time travel stuff is such a headache lol... The thing about time travelling and storytelling is the writer can use whatever rules they want. Rules to time travel isn't going to be the same story to story. For example in Back to the Future the person time travelling could not meet the other version of themself if there are two versions of them at the same time. Same in Harry Potter. In Harry Potter it was explained that witches or wizards that time traveled and ran into face to face a past/future versions of themself, each version of themself basicly went crazy. However, in the tv series Charmed, the main characters met past/future versions of themselves quite a few times. Another difference so far in these other stories Charmed and Back to the Future, the time travelling character always ran the risk of changing the future. In Lost we are explained by Daniel Faraday, that they can't change the future, what happened happened. Daniel also explains you can go back and forth on the timeline, but if you manage to go off track time will find a way to fix itself. So in other stories like Back to the Future and Charmed, people who had the capability had the power to alter time. Yet in Lost, only Time and Destiny itself has control of the time line. That's the way it is making sense to me... I think... Sorry if I lost you at this point lol... With Daniel's explanation you can go back and forth, but if you off track time will fix itself, I'm kind of with the theory that this has always happened for the survivors. Maybe this is how Richard Alpert, Ben, and the Others always seemed all knowing, because they have already encountered these people, therefore when Flight 815 crashed, they knew who's records they needed. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. I questioned prior to lasnights episode whether Sawyer and co had changed time by infiltrating Dharma... but when I saw that Amy named her baby Ethan, this showed me that everything was technically still on track. I'm thinking Paul and the two Others would have died some other way if Sawyer and Co didn't show up to interupt their ordeal at Amy and Paul's supposed romantic picnic.

I think it more likely that young Ben is not dead, and please also consider: a. Jin is right beside him, soon to wake, and he has a van. b. Jack and Juliet might have to act as doctors to save Lil Ben, Lost loves irony. c. Lil Ben once recovered could suggest to all that Jin helped Sayid escape, and that they shot him to cover up that they knew each other. Again irony. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Surely not dead, as we know the island is special and people from the past can jsut be killed.. theres no douth that hes atill alive.i think neverb4 had it right most likely and the up coming episodes are named very well to what this guy over me had to say.. still what a great episode, next week is gonna be a mind blower all over again Do you find this valuable? |

Just watched "Lost: Untangled" off the website, at 1 min, 58 seconds it looks like Lil Ben on a hospital bed all hooked up. Not dead.

I vote for alive, because otherwise it would ruin what has already been established on the show. If he's dead then this is like an alternate timeline and I don't think we need a whole separate timeline where anything could happen.
