If you have seen the very last episode then you must know for sure that the whole show took place in Purgatory. This is not unique. Life On Mars and Ashes To Ashes also ended with the conclusion that it all took place in Purgatory. Its a very easy way for the writers to do just about anything and then not have to justify or explain it. So yes, the writers did lie from the outset. 1 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

There's one line alone that proves the island was NOT purgatory. Before Jack enters the main area of the church to join his friends, his father specifically says "it was all real". The flashside ways WAS purgatory, but everything that happened on the island, was REAL. Anyone who's seen the last episode should know this.

Look, its just a TV show. Its not real! Nothing you saw in any of the episodes was real. The show does however need a premise, and the premise for this show is Purgatory. It was not science fiction as it was supernatural. So the writers had to lie about the show taking place in Purgatory just as the writers of Life On Mars and Ashes To Ashes did right up to the last episode where Purgatory was revealed as the explanation. Hope this helps you to get over yourselves.

That's great, except it was NOT Purgatory! Not even the flash sideways world was Purgatory, if anything it was more like Limbo or an astral plane of existence. I know it's just a TV show but what people like you and the OP are saying about it isn't accurate. So please try to stick to the facts here guys.

Like I said LAST YEAR The show did NOT take place in Purgatory. Everything that happened on the Island actually happened. Of course it didn't happen in real life, but it did happen in the Television show. I believe the Flash Sideways were Purgatory or Limbo as Grant put it, because everyone had already died at some point, but they all had to gather together before they could move on to actual death. So, YES the Flash Sideways took place in Purgatory or Limbo or Astral Planes, or whatever you want to call it, but what happened through seasons one through six, (flash sideways excluded) actually happened and was very real. I suggest the OP and Fivish rewatch the seasons so they can get their facts straight before they post babble like this.

There's no point in debating this further since it's already been proven OVER and OVER that the show did not take place in purgatory and the on island events were all REAL.
