I dont know if your theory that he worked for Dharma might be right... but the brainwashing part kinda makes sense. Mainly because a few episodes back, we found that the others were brainwashing Alex's boy friend. Remember, they locked him to a chair in a room play loud techno music and flashing random colors and images all day and night. Maybe, the Dharma people or the others somehow discovered that Sam intercepted the transmission and learned about the numbers (or maybe even what they mean) so they at some point kidnapped him and brainwashed him to assure that their meaning would never be discovered. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
