Maybe

Maybe, Jacob is a manefestation of the Island. Ben showed a connection with the Island when he saw his dead mother and Locke can now walk and seems to have a special bond with the Island. Locke is stil in the process of regaining his faith in the Island, so there for he didn't see Jacob, only heard him. 1  out of 7 found this valuable. Do you?

Like I said and some others have said that Jacob is Jacob. But I have a question about Jack's dad: In season 1 when he kept 'seeing' his dad and he found the coffin wasn't it empty? Do you find this valuable?

Maybe Jacob can manifest himself as whoever he needs. This may include Walt. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

"That means that Jacob is a very busy ghost!"
This is really just an OMG moment!! I started thinking about Jacob, and what my daughter has said about him. She has said that Jacob is Jacob, no one on the island really know him but a few. He is no one that we have seen before.

I have starting to think (especially after the March 6th episode) when in the woods Kate, Jack, Juliet and the two from the freighter could hear the whispers and voices again. I started thinking that possibly those voices were the whispers of those who died on the ship. Since the captain always goes down with the ship (protocol) could Jacob be the captain? He can't leave the island until someone allows him to leave, that is why he asked Locke to help him. In almost all religions when you die, your soul follows the light, to another place. If you don't have that opportunity you stay where you died and haunt.(that's not part of religion, but a theory) The black smoke could very well be Jacob haunting the island, because the island is his. The whispers could be those of the people who died on the ship, but since they weren't the captain - they are not in charge. It is still a form of haunting.

I'd love to hear some thoughts on this.

That is what I am thinking, and I could be wrong - we all get steered in the wrong direction. I can't help but think that Richard Alpert has something to do with Jacob because of his comment to Locke - "Ben doesn't know as much as he thinks he does." Remember?

Yeah I remember. Ben is just being used by Jacob and doesn't have much power. Remember Alpert doesn't age either. That might have to do with Jacob or the Island or both. The Island can travel through time...maybe Jacob has something to do with that too....idk Do you find this valuable?

I have changed my mind on all of this! Jacob does have power because he found the loop hole, but so does Richard because he led Ben and the Darth-Locke to the loop hole. In the beginning women were having babies without problem (remember Amy and Horace and Ethan that Juliet delivered? That was due to the statue which was supposed to be an island of peace and pleasure. But the man in the black represents the black smoke. It is a battle of good (light clothing) and evil (dark clothing) . But everyone has a boss including Jacob and Darth Locke. I think that is Richard. He knows all about the island and he knows where everything is including Jacob. (The women couldn't have children because in 1977 someone set off a bomb of radio activity.) I also think that Ilana is Claire. There is a big puzzle here that in #6 will all come out.

I agree - Jacob and Darth Locke both are from the Black Rock - however, there is someone really running the show. This is a story of good and evil. It began with the story of Jacob and Easau.
