Dharmic religions

The numbers add up to 108, this number has a significant role in a group of religions like Buddhism, Hinduism that are called the DHARMIC religions.(see Wikipedia, 108(number))

Just a few examples: 108 is the number of sins in Tibetan Buddhism, many Buddhist temples have 108 steps, Zen priests wear juzu (a ring of prayer beads) around their wrists, which consists of 108 beads, and so on...

Now, could the similarity of the words DHARMIC and DHARMA be coincident, considering the role of the number 108?
